Mose is a morpheme in Egyptian royal naming convention that means "born of." It (and its derivatives) when given to a prince is typically paired with the name of a God, like Thoth (Thutmose I, II & III), Iah (Ahmose I), and Ra (Rameses I & II).

Being "drawn from the river," rather than born to the Egyptian Royal Family, Moses has no divine father God as far as the Egyptians are concerned. The half-name is to deny him the inherent divinity afforded to their natural born princes.

Bonus: The "-mose" morpheme was popularized by the 18th dynasty of Egypt starting with Pharaoh Ahmose I, beginning around 1526 BCE, the proposed birth year of Moses. Ahmose I was the first Pharoah in the 18th dynasty, and he led a campaign of expulsion against a group in the northeastern Delta region of Egypt.
